Operation Kitchen Cleanout and a Yummy Experiment

So if you read last week’s article, you will know that I am in the beginning of Operation Kitchen Cleanout. With a little more than 2 months til Passover, and a DH who wants a cleaner (ie:”The pantries are too full and you can’t buy anything else til this stuff goes”) kitchen, I am trying to be creative with what I have.

While I eat and bake (90% of the time, at least) gluten-free, I discovered a half-used bag of regular flour in my freezer. In my fridge was a batch of peanut-butter filling for chocolates I had wanted to make, but never got around to. My daughter decided to ‘be Mommy’ and pulled out all my disposable tins, finding about 2 dozen cupcake tins. What were those for again?!

A chocolate pound cake was a given: easy to make, takes more time to bake then assemble. Why not make them small, use the cupcake tins instead? And why not experiment (I am all for experiments!) and see what would happen if I put the peanut-butter filling inside?

You have to make the cake less sweet to compensate for hte sweetness of the filling. Mini chocolate poundcakes with peanutbutter candy filling.

nothin wrong – PB and choc are not an experiment in my book — a rule to live by!

Totally agree! The experiment part was using the PB candy (it’s a heavier consistancy than a normal filling) in a pound cake mixture. This will be made again, I assure you!

  9. Experimenting is so much fun, especially when you get a great result! These looks yummy.
